Back to Earth south east garden prize winner announced

On Monday 6 June the Back to Earth Initiative announced the winner of their south east garden prize competition – congratulations to St Kevin’s Primary School!

Thanks to the $5000 prize, the school will extend their existing vegetable patch into a holistic sustainable garden for all, including sensory, herb and vegetable gardens and a worm farm. The garden will provide a valuable educational resource for students and their families to learn about gardening and the benefits of eating fresh produce, as well as the importance of returning nutrients back to earth through composting.

We’d also like to congratulate the runners up Langwarrin Preschool, Sandringham College and Longbeach Anglican Parish. They will each receive $1000 to help their projects bloom.

All of the nominated projects this year were fantastic, and we are keen to work with the involved councils to discuss what we can do to help them to succeed. Watch this space!
