Litter Hotspots: Prevent Litter - Cover Your Load

Cover Your Load was a community litter prevention education and behaviour change campaign implemented within the City of Whittlesea to change the long term behaviour of residents using the Wollert Landfill and the Cooper Street Recycling Precinct.
The campaign aimed to highlight the environmental benefits of covering trailer loads when in transit to:
- reduce roadside litter and debris
- protect nearby parklands and waterways
- improve the safety of municipal roads.
Key achievements from this project included:
- 20% increase in residents covering their trailers
- 600 trailer tarps distributed to residents
- conducting five successful community education blitzes.
